February 2024 Crash in Texas: On February 24, 2024, a fatal crash occurred in San Antonio, Texas, involving a Ford Mustang Mach-E with the BlueCruise system. The accident happened around 9:40 PM on Interstate 10, near Woodlake Parkway, when the Mustang collided with a 1999 Honda CR-V that was stationary in the center lane. The driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old man, tragically lost his life. The 44-year-old driver of the Mustang sustained only minor injuries. Data from the Mach-E confirmed that BlueCruise was active at the time of the crash.
March 2024 Crash in Pennsylvania: A little over a month later, on March 3, 2024, another fatal incident involving a Ford Mustang Mach-E took place on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The crash occurred around 3:00 AM in the Port Richmond area when the Mustang struck two stationary vehicles—a 2006 Toyota Prius and a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The Prius was parked on the roadside, and one driver was outside when the collision happened. This tragic accident claimed the lives of two young men, ages 20 and 21, with one victim being hit while standing outside his car. At the time of the crash, the driver, 23-year-old Dimple Patel, was reportedly using both BlueCruise and Adaptive Cruise Control and was traveling at around 71 mph (114 kph). Authorities suspect she may have been under the influence of alcohol, leading to multiple charges, including DUI homicide and involuntary manslaughter.
