Toys bring joy, learning, and laughter to young children, but they should never bring danger. As parents, we trust that the toys we give to our kids are safe to play with. When that trust is broken, it’s unsettling.
That’s why the Step2 Snowman recall has so many families concerned. Over 31,000 My First Snowman toys have been pulled from store shelves because of a serious toy choking hazard linked to their plastic top hat. According to reports, the hat can crack or break, creating small pieces that pose a life-threatening risk to babies and toddlers. This Snowman toy safety issue is a reminder of how fast a fun moment can turn dangerous. If you own a My First Snowman toy, stop using the toy right away.
At Ethen Ostroff Law, we help families hold companies accountable when unsafe products endanger children. If your child has been affected by the Step2 recall 2025, our team is here to guide you through your legal options. In this article, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the Snowman toy recall: why the recall was issued, what steps to take if you own the toy, and what you can do if your child was injured.
Step2 has recalled its My First Snowman toy due to a potential safety risk involving the toy’s plastic top hat.
The recall was announced after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned that the top hat can crack and break into small pieces, creating a toy choking hazard for young children. Step2 has received 47 reports of the hat’s brim breaking. No injuries have been reported at this time.
The Snowman toy recall applies to My First Snowman toys sold online through Step2, Amazon, Walmart, and Wayfair between March 2024 and December 2024. Only toys manufactured in December 2023 and April 2024 are included. Consumers can check the toy’s date code, which appears in a dial format near the battery compartment on the bottom of the hat.
This Snowman toy safety issue has prompted warnings to parents and caregivers to inspect the toy and remove it from children’s reach if it is part of the recall.
The CPSC has released new details about the Snowman toy recall involving the popular My First Snowman toy from The Step2 Company LLC.
Description of the Recalled Product
The recall covers My First Snowman toys that include a removable plastic top hat along with other parts that can be taken off and reattached. The snowman comes with facial features, purple mittens, and a battery-powered black and red top hat featuring a gray snowflake.
The toy stands about 17 inches tall and has a white body, purple mittens, blue and green eyes, an orange nose, and red and orange buttons on its front. The Step2 logo is displayed on the front of the snowman.
Only toys produced in December 2023 and April 2024 are part of the Step2 recall 2025. Parents can check whether their toy is included by looking for the date code, which appears in a dial format on the underside of the hat, near the battery compartment.
